Competency requirements

  • Applicants name to be shown on the documentation
  • Applicants name must match (However shortened versions such as 'Chris' for Christopher can be accepted)
  • Recognised Training Institution name to be displayed on the document
  • An actual copy of the certificate/degree is required. Letters are not accepted in lieu of this.
  • Completion date or issue date must be displayed
  • Course title and associated level to be listed on the certificate to match the nominated coding and title within RIW
  • Document/Certificate / Number
  • No expiry
  • For overseas/international engineering qualifications to be accepted in the RIW Program, the qualification needs to meet one of the following requirements:
    • The degree is recognised by the Washington Accord Rules. The qualification will need to be checked by using the following link: http://www.ieagreements.org. A PDF of the search result will need to be uploaded alongside a certified true copy of the degree. 
      • The search result can be downloaded by selecting the Download PDF button.
      • The issue date of the degree certificate must occur in between the "Intake Dates".
      • The "International Recognition" must state Washington Accord
    • A letter from Engineers Australia showing completion of Stage 1 competency assessment.
      • The name on the letter must match the name on the degree.
      • The occupational category must be "Professional Engineer".
      • A certified true copy of the degree certificate and the "State 1 Competency" letter must be uploaded.
    • A "Migration Skills Assessment Competency Demonstration Report" from Engineers Australia.
      • The name on the letter must match the name on the degree.
      • The "Occupation Classification" must be "Professional Engineer".
      •  A certified true copy of the degree certificate and "Migration Skills Assessment Competency Demonstration Report" must be uploaded.

Upload requirements

  • Completion date - if listed on the certificate (this completion date is always used when displayed)
  • If the date of completion is not shown, the certificate issue date is to be recorded
