Certificate of Currency.MTM - Track Vehicle Operator - 1 AND Course.Metro Track Vehicle Operator - 1 Course (63095 or 46517)

From 1 January 2023, this competency must be awarded to the Rail Industry Worker profile using one of the following methods :

  • Directly awarded by the RTO who delivered the training, or
  • Added by a company if the certificate has back-to-source verification, such as a QR code. Please check the accepted evidence below for an example.

This Business Rule also applies to: Operator Plant.Qualified.000803 Metro Trains Melbourne (MTM) TVO - Class AND Safety.Qualified.MTM - Track Vehicle Operator - Victoria Business Rule - MTM - Track Vehicle Operator 1, Version 07 - 14/02/2017          


Please upload a Statement of Attainment/Attendance or Certificate of Achievement/ Completion issued by one of MTM's authorised Registered Training Organisation (RTO) providers:

  • Metro Academy
  • John Holland Group OR Accell
     As of 10/01/22, John Holland Group/Accell are also approved for recertification.
    • For TVO issued by John Holland, a Statement of Attainment with the following 2 units is to be uploaded:

      TLIC2054 - Access rail track to run track vehicle within defined worksite

      TLIC3045 - Operate road/rail vehicle

      The Statement of Attainment must be accompanied by a certificate of completion issued by John Holland with the outcome Metro Track Vehicle Operator 1. This statement of attainment cannot be accepted independently.

  • Training Ahead Australia 
    • Training Ahead Australia – For certificates issued from 04/01/2019 onwards.
      Note: TAA were not approved to deliver TVO between 25/07/2021 – 12/08/2021.
  • Australian Testing Services from 23/08/2021
    • Certificate must show Certificate of Achievement containing Metro Track Vehicle Operator 1

  • CERT For certificates issued between 01/10/2018 and 24/07/2021
    •  CERT issued certificate must show Certificate of Achievement containing Metro Track Vehicle Operator 1.

Document will show completion of: Metro Track Vehicle Operator OR VICMETTVO1 Metro Track Vehicle Operator 1

  • Note: It is okay for a statement of attendance to be accepted in the Metro Track Vehicle Operator competency requirement, as the individual unit requirements are now captured by the new national Road rail / Rail bound role.
  • Renewal certificates issued by Metro Academy that are issued on or after 02.05.2018 must be shown on the new certificate template.

Applicants will need to submit the relevant job role for assessment to allow this competency application to be sent to MTM. A step-by-step guide for this process can be found here.

  • Applicant's name must be shown on the document
  • Applicant's name on the document to match applicants name in RIW (However, shortened first names such as 'Chris' for 'Christopher' are accepted)
  • Letter must state application for MTM - Track Vehicle Registration Assessor - Path 1
  • Letter must have the Registration Number
  • Letter must be signed by the Head of Engineering Rollingstock – Adam Anderson. 
  • Applicants should click 'Apply for Assessment' for this competency which will allow this application to be sent to MTM For assessment.
