Competency requirements

  • The applicant's name must be shown on the document.
  • The name on the document must match the applicant's registered name and name in RIW (shortened versions such as 'Chris' for 'Christopher' are accepted).
  • Evidence for this competency is a recognised building industry registration card or a Registration Certificate.
  • Both sides (Front and Back) of the card/licence are required.
  • Evidence must be issued by Victorian Building Association (VBA).

Upload requirements

  • Issue Date = Only enter if there is a date of completion shown on the evidence.
  • Expiry Date = As listed on the card.

Competency Requirements

  • Recognised Training Institution name must be displayed on the document.
  • A copy of the certificate, degree or transcript is required. Letters are not accepted.

  • Document/certificate number must be included.

  • Completion date or issue date must be displayed.

  • Course title must state a Certificate IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree or Graduate Diploma of Engineering in one of the following disciplines: Electrical, Mechanical, Fire or Hydraulics Engineering.

  • For Fire Life Safety Engineering, the course title must be a Graduate Diploma in Building Fire Safety and Risk Engineering.

  • Overseas/international engineering qualifications are accepted in line with acceptance criteria of A957.

  • Other related Building Services Engineering qualifications may also be considered.

  • All other submissions must be forwarded to competencies@metrotrains.com.au prior to verification. Evidence must be accepted by MTM in order for it to be verified.
