Certificate IV.MTM - Signal Assistant Designer (27429.005)


Competency requirements

When certificate is uploaded:

**Internationally issued trade certificates / Licences cannot be accepted regardless of country of issue / standards referenced etc. – Automatic recognition has been suspended for a number of years now. If the contractor has completed the trade course overseas, they will be required to either:

  • Attend an Australian RTO who will competency map their certificate and align it to an Australian equivalent (Note: The RTO may deem as part of this process that there may be some additional training that is required).
  • The applicant can apply to have their licence recognised and if approved by Fair Trading they will be issued an Australian Licence (though there is normally gap training as Australia has more or different requirements within the trade).

Statement of Competency.MTM - Independent Reviewer - Track and Civil (76547)


Competency requirements

  • An MTM Assessed Statement of Competency (SOC) should be uploaded with all required signatures from an approved MTM Assessor/SME.
  • The applicant's name must be displayed on the uploaded evidence.
  • Assessment paperwork will display matching role title.
  • Black and white OR colour copy of this document is accepted.
  • Must be clear and legible.
  • Applicants will need to submit the relevant job role for assessment to allow this competency application to be sent to MTM. A step-by-step guide for this process can be found here.


NOTE: The uploaded document for this competency is expected to have already been verified by an approved MTM assessor and SME. MTM representative will then assess the paperwork supplied and supply endorsement confirmation OR rejection reasoning back to Applicant as required.

Issue and Expiry date to be recorded in RIW - Validity period to be recorded as 4 years (unless advised otherwise on assessment paperwork or by endorser).

Work Experience.Record of Relevant Experience (33651)


Competency requirements


An MTM Assessed Record of Relevant Experience (RORE) should be uploaded with all required signatures from an approved MTM Assessor/SME.

  • Applicants name must be displayed on the uploaded evidence
  • Assessment paperwork will display matching role title
  • Must be clear and legible.


NOTE: The uploaded document for this competency is expected to have already been verified by an approved MTM assessor and SME. MTM representative will then assess the paperwork supplied and supply endorsement confirmation OR rejection reasoning back to Applicant as required.

  • The Record of Relevant Experience is required to provide further evidence of your Engineering skills and experience relevant to the role you have selected.
