Competency requirements

When a licence is awarded it must meet the following requirements:

• The applicant's name must be shown on the document.
• The name on the document must match the applicant's registered name (however shortened versions such as 'Chris' for 'Christopher' are accepted).
• Licence class must be Rail/Traction
• The licence must be issued by Energy Safe Victoria

When a letter is awarded it must meet the following requirements:

• Must state reference number
• Applicants name on the letter must match RIW cardholder's name
• Letter must state licence application approved
• Letter must state licence number
• Class must state R – Rail/Traction
• Letter must be issued by Energy Safe Victoria

Upload requirements

• Award date = Issue date on the licence.
• Expiry = 5 years from the award date.

• Expiry = 5 years from the date on the letter
