COMPETENCIES GOVERNED BY THIS RULE:  

  • Qualified.Relevant Tertiary Qualification - MTM - Control Systems & Comms Assistant Technician (95225)
  • Qualified.Relevant Tertiary Qualification - MTM - Signal Assistant Constructor (95227)

Competency Requirements 

  • Applicant’s name must be shown on the documentation. 
  • Applicant’s name must match (shortened versions, e.g. Chris for Christopher, are acceptable). 
  • Recognised Training Institution name must be displayed on the document. 
  • A copy of the certificate, degree or transcript is required. Letters are not accepted. 
  • Document/certificate number must be included. 
  • Completion date or issue date must be displayed. 
  • The following qualifications can be accepted without confirmation from MTM:
    1. UEE41223 - Cert IV in Electrical - Rail Signalling
    2. Bachelor of Engineering (Science)
    3. Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)
    4. Bachelor of Technology
    5. Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical)
    6. Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunications)
    7. Bachelor of Engineering (Information Technology)
    8. 10780NAT - Graduate Diploma in Rail Signalling
    9. 22327VIC - Graduate Diploma of Railway Signalling
    10. 22326VIC - Graduate Certificate in Railway Signalling
    11. UEE50420 - Diploma of Electrical Engineering
    12. UEE53020 - Diploma of Electrical Systems Engineering
    13. UET50221 - Diploma of ESI - Power Systems
    14. UEE62220 - Advanced Diploma of Electrical - Engineering
    15. UEE63020 - Advanced Diploma of Electrical Systems Engineering
    16. UET60222 - Advanced Diploma of ESI - Power Systems
    17. Cert IV in Relevant Field (See Note 1)
    18. UEE30820 - Cert III in Electrotechnology Electrician
    19. UEE33020 - Certificate III in Electrical Fitting
    20. 21730VIC Cert IV in Rail and Tram Signal Systems
    21. UTE40499 Cert IV in Electro Technology – Computer Systems (Spec in Control)
    22. PTC Signal Maintenance Technician Course (Certificate)
  • Applicants currently undertaking a listed qualification must upload proof from the Registered Training Organisation showing formal training has commenced. 
  • All other submissions, including IRSE qualifications and Non-Washington Accord Degrees, must be forwarded to competencies@metrotrains.com.au prior to verification. Evidence must be accepted by MTM in order for it to be verified.
