Competency requirements

  • Please upload a card or certificate.
  • Name on documentation to match the person registered (shortened version of the name is accepted EG. Chris for Christopher).
  • If there is a Date of Birth (DOB) data field shown on the uploaded evidence RIW will verify the DOB that is listed matches the applicant's registered DOB in RIW.
  • Documentation that has been found to be subject to data field alterations will not be accepted.
  • A State issued card must be used as evidence.
  • Evidence must display the state it was issued in as it is specified in the competency name.
  • To find which WA RTO issued the card for back-to-source verification, please visit the Western Australia Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety website.
  • Also accepted are:
    • Previously issued cards by Housing Industry Association (HIA) and Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU).
    • An interim document, issued after you have completed training or are waiting for a replacement card.
    • Interim documents will have a 4-week expiry where the actual certificate will then need to be uploaded.
    • Evidence of requesting a replacement card, from a State Government Authority, will have a number of nominated days on the document as to how long it will take to receive a card. The expiry date is based on the number of nominated days commencing from the issue date of the letter.

  • No expiry date is required
  • Where online training is completed and you only have a receipt, this will be treated as an interim Statement of Attainment and have a 4-week expiry where the actual certificate will then need to be uploaded.
