Competency requirements

John Holland VOC Paperwork and a copy of the front and back of a card /ticket from a registered training provider showing an issue date. JH VOC paperwork has a 2 year expiry.

  • METRO TUNNEL VOC template shows unit of competency has a 2 year expiry OR
  • A copy of the front and back of a card /ticket from a registered training provider showing an issue date OR
  • An RTO issued statement of attainment showing relevant national training unit of competency completion that is less than 2 years old OR
  • a VOC certificate or assessment that includes the RTO number. VOC certificate/assessment has a 2 year expiry OR
  • Completed John Holland Verification of Competency (VOC) Evidence Checklist with Subcontracting company's completed VOC assessment, assessor's cert IV in TAE as well as assessor tickets/quals OR
  • A HPA issued temporary validation checklist

The VOC Verifier can be a John Holland employee or Subcontractor provided they meet the below requirements

  • To be a Subcontractor VOC verifier, you must hold a certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification or successfully completed the VOC Verifier training have the documentation attached to the VOC Assessment tool. 
  • Please be aware that if this form of evidence is uploaded there should also be a copy of the VOC verifiers Cert IV in Training and Assessment OR evidence of completed or the John Holland VOC Verifier training included within this file upload

NOTE: If there is a mismatch with regard to the competency naming used on the VOC compared to what is displayed as the competency title in RIW, RIW will seek JH site approval for the document


NOTE: Where a VOC is issued by Earthworks Training but the referenced RTO number belongs to a different registered training organisation, this can be accepted providing the different company is a current RTO with the relevant unit of training displayed on their scope

Upload requirements

  • Issue date must be recorded as date of VOC completion 
  • NOTE: Issue dates must be entered even when an issue date is not actually recorded on the VOC card - Calculate Issue date to be the date which is 2 years prior to the expiry date of document
  • Expiry date must be recorded as the date that falls 2 years after the issue date UNLESS a temporary validation checklist is uploaded. The expiry date for this form of evidence is shown on the document.
