Job Role: TfNSW - Operator


Role Description

The TfNSW – Operator job role is a mandatory requirement for all workers who conduct work on the TfNSW (Transport for NSW) network, this includes all rail network managed and maintained by Sydney Trains. It is a requirement for all National, TfNSW network and TfNSW employer job roles, and must be valid prior to being awarded any TfNSW Network Based competencies. For example, TfNSW – Operator is required to be selected with the Rail Labourer National role if this work is being undertaken by the worker.

This role is included in the National Operator Roles Matrix.

Medical Requirement

Minimum CAT 3 medical as per Contractor-Health-Assessment-Information-Sheet.pdf
(on commencement of duty; renewal required every 5 years) 

Currency Requirement

No currency requirement.

Competency Requirements

Effective 1 January 2025

TLIF0020 Safely access the rail corridor unit of competency (or equivalent) issued by a TfNSW Approved Training Provider is required.

The Induction.RISI Card (23530 or 58576 or47830) is available to be awarded by TfNSW only to current Sydney Trains and NSWTL employees who have maintained employment since 2016 or earlier.
